THE SCHOOL

Our international kindergarten develops globally responsible and compassionate young learners by encouraging them to become active and inquiring lifelong learners within an intercultural community. We are one of 3 accredited IB PYP World schools in Zheijiang province. The school was founded in 2011 and has gained the reputation of being the best kindergarten in Yiwu due to our commitment to developing a strong curriculum and offering our students many opportunities to learn in fun and engaging ways. Our staff is comprised of over 50 Chinese teachers and over 25 foreign teachers. Our foreign staff is one of the largest early year staff team in the country.

Most of our students start at 2 to 3 years old and complete 4 years at our school. Their development is closely monitored by the teachers and their progress is guided throughout their time at the school. As an IB school we focus on learning through inquiry and incorporate play based learning into the classroom. Each teacher will teach phonics, math and inquiry lessons. The focus of each subject is mapped out in the school curriculum. The curriculum is reviewed and adjusted by the teachers every year to ensure the right material is being taught to the children.

Our school has many experienced teachers that will support and guide new teachers learning IB PYP and teaching in China. All teachers work within a year group and meet weekly to share ideas and help each other plan lessons for their class. Each classroom has a foreign teacher, Chinese English teacher, and Chinese teacher. Each classroom team sets their teaching schedule and plans together. With a large teaching team, transitioning into life in China is much easier as there is constant support for your life inside and outside of the school. You will be part of a team of committed teachers and supportive staff.

TEACH ENGLISH IN YIWU

Yiwu is located in the center of Zhejiang province, not far south of Shanghai, and as such benefits from a pleasant subtropical year round climate. The city is populated with just over a million people, a mid-sized city for Chinese standards.

Yiwu is a very international city due to its large space in the small commodities production and trade. It is a hub for the high-speed rail making it easy to travel throughout China, like Shanghai which is only 90 minutes away. The city offers a chance to experience traditional Chinese culture with various local markets and friendly people. There is also a large foreign community due to Yiwu’s large trade market so restaurants and bars with western cuisine are available. The cost of living in Yiwu is very low which makes it a great place to save money.

There is plenty to keep you busy in Yiwu, whether it be outdoor sports, hiking or white water rafting to relaxing in one of the many tea houses and bars or exploring the city’s hidden delights.

We follow the IB curriculum and are based in Yiwu , China. As a teacher that has been teaching for 6 years I really enjoy my work here. The IB PYP curriculum allows me to be creative and open minded and the atmosphere is relaxed. Yiwu is a great city with a lot of opportunities to meet new people and to save money for travelling. I have been at here almost 5 years now and have enjoyed every minute. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

-5 working days per week (Monday to Friday)
-40 hour work week (8:00 to 17:30 including 90 minutes off campus lunch break)
-Class Length: 40 minutes per class (1-2 lessons per day)
-Roughly 5-8 lesson hours per week (other times include specialist classes and free play)
-Class sizes: 20 to 24 students
-Student ages: 3 to 6 years old
-Team teaching (3 teachers per classroom)
-Create lessons based IB PYP and school curriculum (weekly planning meetings with fellow teachers)
